Principal's Message

From the Desk of Principal Chris Borasi,
Wilson C. Riles Middle School ...

Mr. Borasi
Welcome to Wilson C. Riles Middle School, home of the Huskies.  I am excited to start my first year as the principal of Riles Middle School.  This will be my 14th year at Riles, beginning as a teacher in our physical education department and spending the last 4 years as the assistant principal.  I look forward to serving the students, families and staff members of the Center Joint Unified community in this new role.

At Riles, we strive every day to fulfill our mission statement of developing our students’ academic, emotional and social skills for success today and in the future.  I am excited to announce some new programs and courses that are in line with our mission. This year we have added intervention courses in our special education program and in the areas of mathematics and reading.  We have also added the Second Step curriculum, a program focused on social/emotional learning, that students will be exposed to in their homeroom classes. In our Electives department, we have also added a Computer Science course and two additional strings courses for our music students.

I am excited to announce PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) re-implementation this school year.  Our students will be taught the Husky Code, located in the student handbook, during the first few weeks of school.  The Husky Code consists of behavior expectations that are safe, respectful, responsible and kind. When students demonstrate these behaviors, they are recognized and rewarded.  We have some great rewards including our Husky Bucks, Student Store, and weekly Husky Buck Raffles to reward our students who follow the Husky Code.

We will continue to offer our Husky Help sessions this school year.  This after school program is focused on giving students access to teachers after school for homework and classwork help.  Our Homeroom period will continue to focus on our community circles, school spirit activities, Second Step instruction and allow time for students to focus on independent reading and academics.

I personally invite you to visit the school.  Please call the school at 787-8100 if you would like to come for a tour or to make an appointment to meet with me.  Please know that during school hours, my top priority is being out on the campus and in classrooms with students and staff. Please also take the time to visit our school website and events calendar for any information and event dates and time for the school year.

Go Huskies!!
